So, this post is pretty much the opposite of my others…at the prompting of reader Jennifer, I’m gonna talk about how another country is impacting the US.
Jennifer is a fellow writer in LA, and while researching a story, she asked me to go with her to a new Pinkberry in LA. For those who don’t know about Pinkberry, it’s likely you’re living in a Ted Drewes world…but alas, chances are you’ll hear about it sooner or later. And just so you know, like Pinkberry’s Korean flava (influence, here, not actual flavor), Red Mango is a similar frozen-yogurt place that has it’s Korean origins, too. And they’re everywhere here.
I went to my first one this weekend. And I have to say it’s pretty much amazing. I don’t remember the same feeling from Pinkberry, but I also hadn’t sweat out 500 gallons of sweat at a 90-degree baseball game before plopping my fro-yo-craving butt down to eat some cold goodness.
Whether or not it’s as good as I thought, though, you should know that Red Mango’s making it’s way to the US this year. And it’s taking friends on myspace.com if you’re looking for new pals.

aaah, tell me more about how it tasted, please. mmmmm. i am getting hungry just looking at it. i’m going to add it on myspace. did you know that pinkberry is banned from using the term “frozen yogurt” because the way they prepare their froyo does not meet govt regulations? they’re fighting it.
btw, did you know someone wrote into EW praising your hair piece and wanting to talk to you about?
thanks for visiting RM!

OK, Jennifer…just so you know, you’re going to be the death of me. It’s only been three days, and I went back again today. I just couldn’t walk past without it. And even without sweating myself to death today, it was still too yummy. The yogurt is sweet but not over-syrupy, and the fruits give it a nice sweet and sour combo…ah, I think I’ll be spending way too much time and money there.
And so it’s not frozen yogurt at Pinkberry? Guess they’re like the KFC of the dessert world. Hehehe.
(I’ll look into the hair story reader, too…it’s kind of funny how many people have read it and responded to it…my hairdresser has even gotten some new Chinese clients out of it!)
How much does it cost in U.S. dollars? It’s pretty expensive here you know. I will paypal you some money for froyo! j/k. there’s also another RM-like place called Ice something. Ice Berry?
A single serving would be like $4.75. I haven’t seen any Ice Berry stores yet…but I did see a couple of Rossi Mango places…but never have seen a customer in one.
