Fabulous way to end my journey, Egypt was. Perhaps I enjoyed it a bit more than some of the other ancient sites I’ve seen this year because I had to learn a lot more about it way back in elementary school gifted class. (Yes, I was “gifted”…scary…I know) Seriously, though…when something fascinates you when you’re in the single digits and you finally get to see it decades later, it’s pretty fab. And then I even got to snorkel in the Red Sea. GORGEOUS!

But enjoy these last few pics because this is the end of the line, folks…more from stateside soon.
Of all the places you’ve been, this one makes me the most jealous. I can’t believe you saw the pyramids in person! Did you feel unsafe in Egypt at all? That’s my biggest worry and reason I’ve never planned a trip there.
Hello Jayna!
I haven’t written in months, but I’ve been keeping up with your adventures.
And now comes what to me seems the hardest part: reverse culture shock! So, at least get my “Welcome back home”; probably you will feel you have lived many lives while people at home seem to be right where you left them, standing still, and at the same time you might feel you lost a big chunk of their lives, pretty contradictory. Take it easy the first days, don’t do much, and enjoy the company of your beloveds, you missed for a whole year.
And please, keep us informed! Your blog is great, and we want to know everything about your adjustment, new impressions about same old stuff, new goals in life after the experience, and so on.
Good luck!!
Ana, the girl from Spain.
P.S.: How did you manage such an interesting trip, travelling all by yourself? I mean, when I travel, I HAVE TO comment everything I see, feel, etc., but …WHO would I talk to if I am alone?? I really admire you.
Sree-I felt incredibly safe in Egypt. It could be partially because I had just left South Africa, but still, my sister (coming from MO) didn’t feel unsafe, either. Yeah, there were cat calls and smooching sounds…but honestly I felt much safer as a woman here than I did in Delhi! You should go!!!
Ana-Thanks for the advice! I’ll be telling you all a little more about the at-home adjustment later…and it is a bit odd to be able to talk to people nowadays! Hehehe. How are YOU?
what an incredible journey you’ve been on! i’ve loved being able to tag along virtually.
